Wednesday is fasting day and, if you choose, a day of silence. I did quite well with the fasting which is no solid food, only two wheatgrass drinks, two green drinks and a green soup. I feel like I am going to turn into the Grinch if I have anything else green! Dr Anna Marie told us in her lecture that it takes 21 days to change a lifestyle. I know it will get easier and I will probably crave green by the end of the program. My silence lasted until I saw the first person. HOHUM.
Here are a few tidbits of information that you may find helpful. Sunflower sprouts are a good source of protein. As a new vegan, I wondered about where I would get my protein. There are plenty of sources, not to worry. Clover sprouts are good for attacking cancer cells and fenugreek bean sprouts are super for the liver. The world of sprouts!! As I mentioned earlier in the blog, sprouts are the main entree and everything else is a side dish. Tomorrow is the class on food prep and recipes, so more on that later.
Stopped by the green house after meditation to get some oxygen. The sprouts we eat are grown here and the process is fairly straight forward, just need some organic potting soil. For those of you who know me well, you know I love to grow my own.
The sugar sabotage lecture was fascinating, educational and shocking. It made me glad that my childhood development was prior to the 1970's. Sugar, which is bad enough, was liquified and lab created to make it cheapler to put in the food. It really is about profit. Unfortunately, in my ignorance of food content, I have absorbed my share of chemicals and now I HAVE to change.
It is no wonder there are so many childhood diseases that used to exist only in the aged. It is sad that we are fooled by the food industry and FDA into believing we can trust them.
Still detoxing, which leaves me a little tired and irritable, but I haven't experienced some of the more dramatic side effects. My dreams have been pretty bizarre. Last night I dreamt I was eating a bowl of colorful (not green) M&Ms with a beer chaser. It was great! I guess I still have a ways to go...
