Today, Sunday, is a day of random thoughts. There is nothing on my schedule, other than laundry, picture taking and enjoying the tranquillity of the tropical environs. Of course, this allows the mind to wander and wonder.
The new "kids" arrived today and I met some of them at lunch. They were a little insecure and overwhelmed with it all. As a week long veteran, I enjoyed helping them and I realized how much I learned, in-spite of the days of detox.
What I always find interesting is how scared human beings are of one another. Just stand in an elevator with other riders and everyone looks at the floor lights instead having eye contact. Insecurities about being good enough, dressed well enough, rich enough, doing the right kind of exciting job, driving the right car, is there lettuce on my teeth and on and on, as we judge others around us with some of the same criteria.
Well, here is what I know: I am who I am and it really has nothing to do with the judgements of others. If you walk in my shoes you would know I am a hero, just read the comments in the blog section. My sister and her daughter, Mindy (a REAL hero, survivor and warrior) told me so.
I have a loving, supportive life partner who picks me up and builds me up.
There is a 6 year old "big boy", Ayden who worships me and needs me to play with him and teach him and comfort him. His love is unconditional and precious. I am richer than Midas.
I have friends that I cherish and that stand up for me.
When I am in a space of gratitude for all that I am and have in my life, I hold my head up high and wish the same for everyone. Everybody should be this blessed.
Thank you.
